About Us

We are a thriving, one-form entry school, with a strong ethos of respect and a desire to be the very best we can be. 'Respecting all as we learn and play together ' is our motto and central to all we do.

Our ethos is based on developing children who value themselves and others, care for themselves and others and are able to develop strengths across all areas of the school curriculum. We are a fully inclusive school and wish for the time our pupils spend with us to be both highly rewarding and successful as well as enjoyable. Our school vision encapsulates our ethos through its words:

'Northleaze School offers a caring environment, based on the values of its Christian foundation, where, in a stimulating and purposeful atmosphere, every child can enjoy, achieve and develop a love of learning.'

Our Vision and Values

At Northleaze the staff, governors and parents work together to foster pupils’ personal as well as academic development. This aim is reflected in the school’s vision:

‘Northleaze School offers a caring environment, based on the values of its Christian foundation, where, in a stimulating and purposeful atmosphere, every child can enjoy, achieve and develop a love of learning.’

The school community have identified four Core Values which we aim to develop in our pupils. These are RESPECT, FRIENDSHIP, PERSEVERANCE AND CREATIVITY.

These core values are developed throughout the school day and nurtured in our pupils through acts of worship, thematic weeks, reward systems and learning activities. They are celebrated in the school's environment to help our school community recognise their importance to our learning.

The school also develops pupils’ understanding of 14 other key values with children through daily collective worship and by linking values to curriculum areas wherever possible. The school follows the ‘Values for Life’ programme to give children a wide range of principles on which to base their own personal development. These values are:

Courage, Peace, Trust, Forgiveness, Justice, Thankfulness, Compassion, Hope, Truthfulness, Humility, Generosity, Wisdom, Service and Responsibility

We cover six values each academic year on a three year cycle and reinforce the values through visual displays around the school. Collective Worship is led by school leaders and members of the local church community. The children's involvement is central to our approach to Collective Worship and they will often be involved through role-plays, questioning and singing. Each act of worship finishes with a prayer linked to the assembly's theme. The overview of Collective Worship themes can be found by clicking the Collective Worship star above.
